I. v. To saw, cut with a saw (Bnff. 1866 Gregor D. Bnff. 154). Hence shauvans, saw-dust (Ib.).
II. n. A saw (Ib.).
[The form, which is irreg. as a development of Saw, n.2, v.2, is due to confusion with shauve from Saw, v.1]
