SHIG, n., v. [ʃig]
I. n. A haycock, a small temporary stack of hay or corn (Gall. 1904 E.D.D., “the sheaves are so placed at the top as to turn rain”; Wgt. 1970).
II. To build corn-sheaves into small temporary stacks on the harvest-field (Gall. 1904 E.D.D.).
