SHORELING, n. Also shurling. Sc. variants of Eng. †shorling, a newly shorn sheep or its skin (s.Sc. 1825 Jam.). Hence shurling-skin, “the skin of a sheep of any age or sex, taken off before the wool has grown again after it has been shorn” (Id.). See also Shirling.Abd. 1707 Session Papers, Magistrates Abd. v. Fraser (14 Nov. 1843) 4:
Hoggs Skins and Shovelings [sic] Skins.
