SKLYTERPIKE. n. A fanciful word formed to denote the name of an imaginary bird, used to bamboozle children.Mry. 1897 J. Mackinnon Braefoot Sk. 173:
"Loon, if ye'll gyang up an' turn yon sheep A'll lat you see a sklyterpike's nest." But what the "sklyterpike" was, or where it nested, he never divulged.
