SMOREN, n. Butter.Sh. 1908 Old-Lore Misc. I. vii. 272:
“Shu's ay demblin idda blaand bit shu's no gotton smoren frae dat kit.” This is applied to anyone who tries to grow a crop on soil unfit for the purpose.

[The form is somewhat doubtful. For the more usual Sh. form see Smirr, n.2 The -en may represent the Norw. suffixed article.]
