BEASSING GIRD, n.comb. The iron hoop used by a cooper in which to set the staves in shaping a barrel.Ork. 1757 Session Papers, Galloway v. Morton (12 Nov.) 164:
He has the same Iron Hoop, and beassing Gird, which were used by his Father, and that he makes the Barrels and Half-barrels by these Gauges.
