BINNIE, n. Also variant dim. form, metri causa, binnock. A kind of freestone, specif. from quarries at Binnie near Linlithgow; a monument made from it. Also attrib.Fif. 1868 St Andrews Gazette (19 Sept.):
The monument consists of a low flat “Binnie” stone, in two blocks, covering the entire length and breadth of the grave.
