BOFI, n. Also boffi, buffie. A large thick piece of turf used as a seat in a house (Sh. 1908 Jak. (1928), Sh. 1975), or as a bed or couch (Sh. 1914 Angus Gl.). [′bɔfɪ, ′bʌfe] [From buffy- (see Buffet-stool), as being in use as a stool.]
