BOTTLE, n.3 A rounded piece of timber running along the ridge of a roof, over which a covering of lead or zinc is fixed (wm.Sc. 1975), also in comb. bottle-nosing, id. (Sc. 1952 Builder (20 June) 942), and ppl.adj. bottled, rounded, of a moulding, etc. (Id.). [Variant or corrupt form of Eng. boltel, a rounded moulding.]
