BROCKLE, n. A cross-bred sheep, the offspring of a Leicester ram and a black faced ewe (s.Sc. 1842 Edb. Ev. Courant (17 Aug.); Peb. 1872 Trans. Highl. Soc. 236, sm.Sc. 1975). [Deriv. n. form from brock- in Brockit, so called from its facial markings. Cf. n.Eng. dial. bruckled, grimy.]
