BUTT-STONE, n. A skew-corbel or spur stone in a house gable. Cf. Peat, n.1, 6. (2).Ags. 1865 J. Stuart Fowlis Easter 64:
On the north-east and north-west corner butt stones, are two shields, with coats of arms.
