CADDIE, n.3 Also caddy. In combs. caddie-bolt, caddie-nail, a bolt or iron-pin used in fixing the body of a cart to its axle (Ags., Per. 1975).Sc. 1835 Trans. Highl. Soc. 351:
A pair of common cart-wheels, with axle, carry two slender beams of wood, fixed to the axle by caddy-bolts.
Sc. 1858 H. Stephens Farm Implements 423:
In piercing the shafts for the caddy-bolts, the same rule is observed as for those of the tilt-cart.
