CALLICADOODGIE, n., v. The game of sliding on the ice in a crouching position (Inv. 1947). Also used as a v., to skate in this way (Id.). [Local adaptation of meaning of Gael. cailleach an dùdain, 'the old woman of the mill-dust', a kind of ritual dance by a man and a woman, described in A. Carmichael Carmina Gadelica (1928) I. 206–7. Cf. Cailleach.]
