CLEARIE, n. See quot.Sc. 1791 Session Papers, Petition J. Jamieson (25 June) 17:
The wash again, or the low wines . . . are distilled a second time . . . and when no more spirit arises from the still, the residuum is evacuated, and is called clearie, being a transparent liquor consisting entirely of water.
