LACING, n. Sc. †usage: one of the main vertical ropes suspending the net from the cable or bush-rope in the old type of herring net (see quot.).Sc. 1750 F. Grant Letter to M.P. 43:
GG is the Lacing, being a four Strand Cable laid Rope 21½ Inches in Circumference; each Net must have a Lacing 7½ Fathoms long.
