¶LEGGAL, n. A hurdle, a wooden or wicker framework used as a fence. The form derives from a transcript of a letter from Scott and may be erroneous.Sc. 1828 Scott Letters (Cent. Ed.) XI. 38:
Flakes of wood which highlanders call Leggals and English hurdles.
