CALDERITE. Geol. A silico-iron and manganese rock, called after James Calder, of Nairn, by H. Piddington (1851 Journal Asiat. Soc. Bengal XIX. 145). The name was later transferred to a massive iron-manganese garnet, commonly associated with the rock.
