DEWAR. In Dewar bulb, -flask, -tube, -vessel, a vacuum flask for storing liquid gas, invented in 1872 by Sir James Dewar (1842–1923) born at Kincardine-on-Forth, chemist, and later Professor of Chemistry at Cambridge and London Universities.
