GRAHAM. Chem. In phr. Graham's law of diffusion, by which the rate of diffusion of a gas is inversely proportional to the square root of its density, formulated in 1834 by Thomas Graham (1805–69), of Glasgow, chemist and professor in Glasgow and London, Master of the Mint, founder of colloid science.
