HANNAYITE. Geol. An acid phosphate of ammonium and magnesium, found in guano in Australia by R. W. E. MacIvor and named at his request after James B. Hannay (1855–1931) of Glasgow, lecturer in chemistry in Manchester (1879 Berichte Niederrheinischen Gesellschaft XXXVI. 5).
