HARDY. Zool. In derivs. hardii, specif. name of one of the Walckenaerae, a spider of the Araneida group (1850 J. Blackwall in Annals & Mag. Nat. Hist. (Nov.) 340); Hardya, a genus of bugs (1922 Edwards in Entom. Monthly Mag. LVIII. 206).
