MANSON. Eng. A type of steam locomotive developed for the Great North of Scotland and later for the Glasgow and South-Western Railways by James Manson (1845–1935), of Saltcoats, locomotive engineer of both companies, G.N.S.R. (1883–90), G.S.W.R. (1890–1911).
