PHOTOPHONE. An apparatus for transmitting sounds like a telephone by means of a beam of reflected light, invented and named by A. G. Bell (see Bel) and the American Summer Tainter (1880 A. G. Bell in Jnl. Franklin Instit. CX. 246).
