THOMSONI. 1. Bot. Specif. name of many genera of plants of Himalayan provenance, called after Thomas Thomson (1817–78), of Glasgow, doctor, botanist and plant-collector in India.
2. Zool. Specif. name of a gazelle common in Kenya (1884 A. Günther in Annals & Mag. Nat. Hist. (Ser. 5) XIV. 425), and of other zoological and botanical species, after Joseph Thomson (1858–95), of Penpont, geologist in Africa.
