SNIT, n. Also snitt (Jak.), sneet. A term of contempt for a small insignificant object or creature e.g. a small cod (Ork. 1929 Marw., sneet), or a small unpleasant person (Sh. 1866 Edm. Gl., 1908 Jak. (1928); Ork. 1929 Marw.; I.Sc. 1971). Also in Eng. dial. Esp. in phr. a snit o' a Ting (Jak.; Marw.). [snɪt, snit]
