SOHOD, int. Also so-hode; sto-ho (Cai. 1939). A call to a dog, encouraging it to drive cattle, sheep, etc. (Ork. 1920 J. Firth Gl., 1929 Marw.). Hence, in gen., a call to animals to start moving or to hurry up (Cai. 1939). [sɔ′hɔd]Ork. 1939 Orcadian (15 June):
The shout o' so-hode fairly mak's the sheep run.
