STATION, n. Sc. usages: (1) in comb. station agent, a railway station-master, whose duties were orig. largely to bring traffic to the railway. Gen. (exc. I.) Sc.; (2) in dim. form stationie, -y, a hypocoristic form of station-master (ne.Sc., Ags., Per. 1971). See -Ie, B. 2.(a).(1) Bnff. 1902 Banffshire Jnl. (10 Jan.):
