SUB-PRINCIPAL, n. The deputy of the Principal of a College or university, only in regard to King's College. Aberdeen, through its foundation charter, the office being abolished in 1860 at the Union of King's and Marischal Colleges to form the University of Aberdeen. The modern deputy-principals in the Scottish Universities are called vice-principals.Sc. 1700 Fasti Aberdonenses (S.C.) 439:
