SUNK, n.3 A thump, dull blow. Phr. to play sunk, to go bump, with a whack. Ags. 1891 Arbroath Guide (28 Feb.) 3: It ga'e me a sunk wi' its heid that fairly doubled me up.Ags. 1896 A. Blair Rantin Robin 52, 59:
I made ane play sunk into ane's mou, . . . I got a sunk i' the lug wi' a snawba'.
