SUPEREXPEND, v. To spend more than the requisite or available amount of money, gen. in ppl.adj. superexpendit, -ed, overspent, in arrears, of persons or funds.Fif. 1703 St Andrews Baxter Bks. (Macadam 1902) 151:
He is superexpendit in the soume of thretty two pounds, 19s., eight pennies.
Ayr. 1726 Ayr Presb. Reg. MS. (30 Sept):
The four hundreth sixty six pound & a merk formerly Laid on by the presbytries act for repairing the kirk was superexpended to the sum of fourty two pound eleven shilling & two pennies.
Per. 1731 A. Porteous Hist. Crieff (1912) 121:
To reimburse him together with what he has superexpended.
