THIGHT, adj. So tight or, of a boat, so well-caulked, as to admit no leakage, water-tight (Ork. 1825 Jam., 1866 Edm. Gl.; Sh., Ork. 1905 E.D.D.; Ork. 1929 Marw., Ork. 1972). Also in n.Eng. dial. [θəit]
[O.Sc. thycht, dense, a.1400, watertight, 1501, ad. O.N. þéttr ( < *þēhtr), tight, water-tight. Cf. Mod.Eng. dials. theet, thite. The form is somewhat irregular as in the later Eng. form tight. See Ticht.]
