¶THWANKIN, ppl.adj. A term applied to clouds which mix together in thick and gloomy succession (Ayr. 1825 Jam.).
[Poss. a variant form of Thwang above. Cf. Eng. dial. usage of thong, to twist or twine together, to form a kind of rope.]
