TOBACKIE, n. One of the actions in a children's ball-game where the player turns his back to a wall and clasps hands in order to catch the ball from behind as it bounces off the wall (Kcb. 1966) or twirls the hands behind his back as the ball falls (Edb. 1952 Folk-Lore LXIII. 230, Edb., Rnf. 1972).
