TRAETEN, v. Also traten. I.Sc. forms of Eng. threaten (Sh. 1916 J. Burgess Rasmie's Smaa Murr (28 Jan.), 1922 J. Inkster Mansie's Röd 99, 1924 J. Hunter Sketches 109). See T, letter, 9. (1) (v). Sh. usage: to order sternly, to drive with threats. Obs. in Eng.Sh. 1899 J. Inkster Mansie's Röd (1922) 131:
