VADDLE, n. Also vad(d)el, vaadle. A sea-pool that empties and fills as the tide ebbs and flows (Sh. a.1836 Jam. MSS. XI. 226, vaadle, 1908 Jak. (1928), vadel, 1914 Angus Gl., vaddel, Sh. 1973). [′vɑdəl]Sh. 1822 S. Hibbert Descr. Shet. 540:
Oozy pools or creeks, replenished every tide, named ‘vaddles'.
