VELTERIN, n. Also veltrin (Sh. 1908 Jak. (1928)). A half-grown cod (Sh. 1973). [′vɛlt(ə)rən]Sh. 1897 J. Jakobsen Dial. Sh. 23:
A half grown cod is in the south of Unst called a velterin.
