VIVUAL, adj. 1. Living, alive (Ayr. 1825 Jam.). Hence adv. vivuallie, ‘in life; as “vivuallie seen”, seen alive' (Ib.). Now only liter.Sc. 1947 D. Young Braird o' Thristles 49:
The fleurs o hairst Wauken dowie musardrie In ilk ane's spreit mair vivuallie.
2. ‘Used to express one's identity; as, “the vivual person”, the self same person' (Ayr. 1825 Jam.).
[The word is of doubtful authenticity, prob. due to an alteration of Vidual to conform to Vieve.]
