WADDELLITE, n. A follower of the Rev. P. Hately Waddell (1817–91) who dissented from the newly created Free Church in 1844 on the relationship of Church and State and led a breakaway, first in Girvan and later in Glasgow, called "The Church of the Future", which rejoined the Church of Scotland in 1888.Ayr. 1925 Carrick Anthol.
