WANTY, n. Also -tye. [′wɑntɑe]
1. As in Eng., now only dial.: a girth or belly-band for a horse's harness (Sc. 1889 Jam.).
2. In extended use: a stretch of fishing-lines shot in the water (Crm. 1921 T.S.D.C., wantye).
[Mid.Eng. waynte, id., from Wame + tie. The reg. Sc. form is Wanton, q.v.]
