APPEARANDLY, adv. Also appearinly. An Older Sc. form = apparently; the form [ə′pirəntli] is still known (Abd. 1975). Abd.(D) 1871 W. Alexander Johnny Gibb xviii.:
Ackin' as a body-guard appearandly to defen' the shepherds fae the flock un'er their chairge.
m.Lth. 1925 C. P. Slater Marget Pow 176:
Appearin'ly the pollis had come forrit efter a'.
