BATCHIE, n.1 A loser, if male, in such games as “Old Maid” and “Catch the Ten.” Contr. for bachelor.Abd.9 1933:
Batchie. I have heard this word used for the player who . . . had the lowest score at the card-game “Catch-the-ten.”
Abd.2 1933:
Batchie. Also called Old Maid, a card game played by young persons; the loser, if a male, called Batchie, if a female, Old Maid.
