BINDER, n. [′bɪndər]
1. Cold, dry wind which makes the earth dry and hard or “binds” it.Sh. 1908 Jak. (1928); Sh.4 1934:
A dry b[inder]; a cauld b[inder].

A b[inder] o' frost, black-frost, prop. frost which merely “binds” the surface of the soil.
