1. A festivity; a gathering of friends to a wedding; specif. a pre-marriage party for a bride and her girl-friends, a female "stag-party" (Dmb. 1969).Sc. 1898 Scotsman (2 Sept.) (E.D.D. Suppl.):
Mrs Cowley was offended because witness was not present at the “bottling,” or gathering of friends invited to the wedding.

2. “The act of putting the neck of a bottle down a person's throat in order to make him vomit” (Bnff.2 1935).Bch. 1928 (per Abd.15):
The mannie got that fou, he nott bottlin'.
