CATCHERS, n.pl. A ball-game in which the players stand in a wide circle and throw the ball from one to another (Kcb.1 1938); “also applied to a game played with bat and ball. When the batsman has been caught out three times, he surrenders the bat to another player. This is also called ‘Three Catchers'” (Edb. 1938 (per Edb.1)). Given in E.D.D. for Cornwall.Edb.5 1938:
“Catchers,” as I recollect it, was played without a bat. The ball was thrown and caught.
