CHABBLE, n. “Ruffling of the surface of water into small waves; used partly of any liquid in a tub or other receptacle, but chiefly of the sea — as in a tideway where the waves are short and quick” (Ork. 1929 Marw.; Cai.7 1939). Cf. Jabble. [tʃabl]Ib.:
