COTCH, COUTCH, v., pa.t. Strong dial. pa.t. of Eng. catch. The form cotch is known to Fif.10, Lnl.1, Lnk.3, Kcb.1 (for Ayr.) 1937. Lnk.3 also gives coutch for Lth. Pa.p. cotch(en).Fif. 1894 (2nd ed.) D. S. Meldrum Story of Margrédel vi.:
The men that cotch 'm are at the door. Gang and see them.
Ayr. 1833 J. Kennedy Geordie Chalmers 132: 
The Deacon Bailie has cotchen the vile loon breakin' into the hoose.
Ayr. c.1843 D. Landsborough Arran (1875) 180: 
They are no cotch yet.
