CRO, KRO, n.³ A corner or nook; a small space or receptacle in a corner of an outhouse or living room used for storing peats, potatoes, etc., known as the peat kro, taati kro, etc. (Sh. 1908 Jak. (1928); 1914 Angus Gl.); also used of “a potato pit” (Sh. 1913–14 J. M. Hutcheson MS. W.-L.); transferred to mean a heap of potatoes or peats kept in a corner (Sh1908 Jak.
