Yon candle lowe is film'd wi' death, an' burns an eerie flame; The death-watch in the cubbart ticks; an' O! I'm nearin' hame.

[The forms without the letter p have been dropped in literary Eng. since the 18th cent. (N.E.D.), but still survive in Lan. dial. (E.D.D.).]
