CUD-DOO, n. comb. "Eider duck, Somateria mollissima" (Bwk. 1895 G. Muirhead Birds of Bwksh. II. 123).

[Evidently an abbreviated form of Nhb. dial. (St) Cuthbert's duck, the eider-duck. For Cud = Cuthbert, cf. Cuddy, n.1: doo may be due to confusion with Doo, a dove.]
