1. A sweetheart. Obs in Eng. since 17th cent.Abd. 1790 A. Shirrefs Poems 214:
I trow they thought themsel's nae muck, Nor yet their dolls.

2. A contr. form of kirn-doll(ie) s.v. Kirn, n.2Bwk. 1901 in Folk-Lore XII. 215:
This girl then arranged the corn in the shape of the “dolly” shown, and dressed it.
